25. June 2017 to 07. January 2018
The artistic work of the Frisian painter Jopie Huisman (1922–2000) will be presented for the first time outside of the Netherlands. His realistic, stirring paintings and drawings are testaments to the simple life. He saw his images of shoes, rags or dolls as portraits, so to speak, of fellow people: he wished to assert their dignity and their being worthy of depiction. In this way he created an homage to the simple life of the Frisians, their landscape and culture. The exhibition presents over 50 works from the Jopie Huisman Museum, Workum, and from a Swiss private collection.
