Alex Frost

04. March 2015 to 27. March 2015

Born in 1973, Alex Frost calls London and Glasgow home and has shown his work in Great Britain, the U.S., France, Italy, and Germany. In March 2015 he spent almost four weeks on Föhr, drawing inspiration from the island and its inhabitants. His approach is characterised, in his own words, by constant shifting “between gallery and non-gallery contexts”. He has created multiple works related to the themes of coast and water, landscape and tourism and also worked repeatedly with sand as a material. His time on Föhr has given him new, context-related ideas. Back in London he had to test them and examine their potential for realisation on the island of Föhr and at the Museum Kunst der Westküste. In an artist’s talk, Alex Frost provided our visitors some insight into those conceptual and artistic processes.
